Paige Spiranac went viral overnight in 2015 — about 500 Instagram followers to 100,000 before "golf influencer" existed as a job — got trashed for posting in a turtleneck, and answered by turning the whole persona into deliberate parody. She plays off a +4 handicap, and since February 2026 she runs her own media company.
Paige Spiranac was a competitive gymnast aiming at the Olympics until injuries ended it; golf came late, learned on public courses in leggings and tank tops because she couldn't afford the wardrobe. Top-ranked junior, college golf at San Diego State, then 2015: one article took her from ~500 Instagram followers to 100,000 overnight — no golf influencer existed yet.
She turned pro, lasted about a year, quit, and signed with Callaway on the media side, a distinction she stresses. Then the turtleneck post: covered head to toe, trashed anyway. "If you're going to put me in that box, then I'm going to do that better than anyone else has ever done it." She runs every account herself — her mom shoots the photos. She's dealt with online harassment ESPN was covering as early as 2016.
Now: +4 handicap, a 68 at Oakmont media day, on-course broadcasting, X-Golf, and Paige Co — her own media venture with Pro Shop.
